What is executive function? You may have heard of it. You may even have Googled it. You know your students struggle with it.
The term "executive function" has been a mainstay of the special education lexicon for decades. Neurotypical students, however, have executive function challenges as well! Your students may struggle with focus, information retention, and impulse control.
In this ONLINE workshop, we will get to the core of how executive function impacts learning and what you can do about it.
How do you set up an EF-friendly classroom?
What are some simple but effective ways to support all students - neurotypical and neurodiverse?
In an interactive setting, we will:
Explore the full spectrum of executive function in an inclusive, equity-centered classroom
Build awareness of, and empathy for, EF challenges
Learn tools and strategies to foster EF skills in the classroom
We will specifically address the following executive skills and strategies more in depth:
Time management - task initiation, planning, prioritizing, organization
Working memory & information management skills
Emotional regulation - sustained attention, flexibility, stick-to-it-iveness
Metacognition
